Clearstream sees assets under custody figure increase

Clearstream has revealed its monthly figures for January, which identified an 8 percent increase in assets under custody, compared to the same month last year.

In the first month of 2019, assets under custody stood at €13,620 billion compared to €14,731 billion this year.

Elsewhere, Clearstream found that securities deposits for investment fund services increased from €2,365 billion last January to €2,777 billion in January this year, marking a 17 percent increase.

The number of transactions spiked up to 3 million from 2.1 million last year, which shows a 42 percent increase.

Meanwhile, global securities financing volume saw a 15 percent increase from €417.6 billion in January 2019 to €478.3 billion last month.

For international business, Clearstream observed a 6 percent change in securities deposits with €6,746 billion in January last year to €7,133 billion in January this year.

According to Clearstream, there was a 20 percent change in the number of transactions with 5.4 million this year compared to 4.5 million in the same period of the year prior.

Domestic business saw a 7 percent drop off with €4,509 billion in January last year compared to €4,821 in January this year.

The number of transactions in this space saw a 29 percent change with 8.2 million in January last year and 10.6 in January this year.
