Kevin Lewis has revealed he will be stepping down from his role as the Australian Securities Exchange’s (ASX) chief compliance officer and will retire from the exchange in mid-2022.
Taking on the role from Lewis is Janine Ryan, who is currently ASX’s deputy general counsel, effective 1 July 2020.
Ryan joined the ASX legal team in 2013 from Gilbert+Tobin, where she was a partner in the equity capital markets arena.
ASX noted that an internal and external search to recruit a new deputy general counsel is underway.
Prior to Lewis’ retirement, he will take up the newly created position of ASX special counsel - regulatory policy. He will focus on initiatives to enhance ASX’s rules and guidance framework, which has supervisory oversight of more than 2,200 listed entities.
Elizabeth Johnstone, chair of ASX corporate governance council, said: “On behalf of the council, I wish to acknowledge the enormous contribution Kevin Lewis has made to the council
and to corporate governance standards in Australia in his decade as the ASX representative on the council.”
Johnstone added: “I wish to congratulate Lewis on his new role at ASX and recognise the
outstanding service he has provided to the council over the past 10 years. I also welcome Janine Ryan to the council as ASX’s new representative.”
