Citi has appointed Joerg Guenther and Brian Ovaert as global co-heads of securities services operations and technology.

Both Guenther and Ovaert will be responsible globally for operations and technology related to middle- and back-office services as well as asset servicing and futures.

Based in London, Guenther will report directly to Stuart Riley, global head of ICG operations and technology.

Guenther originally joined Citi in November 2019 as global head of securities services and issuer technology.

During his career, he has gained 25 years of experience in the financial services industry and has worked at Northern Trust, Artio Global Investors (formerly known as Julius Baer Investment Management), KPMG Consulting, and Zuercher Kantonalbank.

At Northern Trust, Guenther was the global CIO of corporate and institutional services where he was responsible for the technology agenda for fund accounting, transfer agency, middle and back office.

Meanwhile, Ovaert brings more than 28 years of experience in the financial services industry.

Ovaert originally joined Citi in November 2017 as global head of securities services and issuer services operations.

He joined Citi from the Northern Trust in 2018, where he was the global head of enterprise operations, overseeing custody, banking and loan operations.

While primarily based in Chicago with Northern Trust, Ovaert spent over 10 years living and working in London, Bangalore and Hong Kong.

Prior to his career with Northern Trust, Ovaert was an auditor with an international public accounting firm based in Chicago, Illinois.
