The SS&C GlobeOp Forward Redemption Indicator for June 2020 has measured 4.24 percent, representing a monthly uptick of 0.24 percent.

The forward redemption index is calculated by dividing the total number of forward redemption notices received from hedge fund investors on the SS&C GlobeOp administration platform by the number of assets under administration at the beginning of the month for SS&C GlobeOp fund administration clients.

Bill Stone, chairman and CEO of SS&C Technologies, commented: “SS&C GlobeOp's Forward Redemption Indicator for June 2020 of 4.24 percent was closely in line with historical averages for the month of June, though up somewhat from the very favourable 3.81 percent reported a year ago.”

“This level of redemptions is consistent with other recent data points, indicating generally steady overall trends in asset retention for the hedge fund sector since the COVID-19 outbreak.”

According to SS&C, forward redemptions as a percentage of GlobeOp's assets under administration on the SS&C GlobeOp platform have trended “significantly lower” since reaching a high of 19.27 percent in November 2008.

Indicator data provides an accurate perspective of the redemption landscape for investors in hedge funds, with fluctuations mirroring investor confidence.

The next publication date is 22 July 2020.
