Clearstream sees assets under custody increase for June

Clearstream’s monthly figures for June showed its assets under custody stood at approximately €16.2 trillion, an increase of 11 per cent compared with January’s €14.6 trillion last year.

Global securities financing volume outstanding saw a slight decrease on last year’s figure, with June 2021 totalling €547 billion.

Clearstream’s central securities depository (CSD) saw a total of €5.7 trillion in securities deposits, an 18 per cent increase on 2020’s figure of €4.8 trillion.

The CSD saw a dip in the number of transactions with 13.4 million in June 2021, a 6 per cent decrease from the same period last year, which saw 14.3 million.

Meanwhile, its international CSD (ICSD) was reported to be €7.3 billion compared to €7.1 billion in June 2020, which marks an overall increase of 2 per cent.

The ICSD saw a decrease in transactions with €6.2 billion compared to €6.4 billion for the same period last year.

Recently, Clearstream opened up the Saudi capital market to international investors through a new connection with the Saudi securities registry, Edaa.
