Northern Trust will donate funds to Teach For Malaysia in an expansion of its philanthropy efforts.

Northern Trust has 10 offices in the Asia Pacific region, and has fostered strong relationships with several major banks, wealth funds, government agencies, and corporations in the area. By providing financial support to the communities it is active in, the company seeks to create sustainable futures for future generations.

Over the past decade, Northern Trust has provided more than US$160 million to non-profit organisations and non-governmental organisations worldwide. With a philanthropic focus on education, food, healthcare, and housing, the company aims to give those from marginalised groups opportunities for long-term financial success.

Shana Hayes, global head of corporate philanthropy at Northern Trust, says: “It is our belief that supporting educational equity and persistence inspires the fullest realisation of professional achievement. We have been inspired to support the work of Teach For Malaysia as they seek to create education equity in Malaysia, supporting the development of young people to fulfil their highest potential.”

Chan Soon Seng, CEO at Teach For Malaysia, comments: “We believe it is only through our collective efforts that education inequity will end and collaborating with partners such as Northern Trust in Malaysia who share our values and beliefs will help enable us to continue our work to evolve the education system.”
