Virginia-based McguireWoods has expanded its securities and capital markets team with the appointment of W. Lake Taylor, Jr. and Lawton Way.

Both Taylor and Way join from law firm Hunton Andrews Kurth.

McGuireWoods represents large public companies in debt and equity offerings, as well as M&A transactions, financial reporting disclosures and corporate governance matters.

Taylor has experience representing clients on a variety of securities law matters, with a focus on advising public company clients on ongoing reporting and disclosure requirements under US securities laws.

Lake previously served as chair of the Virginia Bar Association’s Section of Business Law, Committee on Business Organizations.

Lawton focuses his practice on securities law, corporate finance, corporate governance and general corporate law.

Lawton has significant experience advising clients on ongoing reporting and disclosure requirements under US securities laws and Nasdaq and NYSE rules. He also advises clients on public and private capital market transactions, including securities offerings and tender offers.

Greg Kilpatrick, chair of securities and capital markets department at McGuireWoods, says: “Lake and Lawton have stellar reputations in Virginia and nationally as go-to advisers for complex securities offerings and corporate governance matters. They will be important contributors to our national practice.”
