Investment manager Downing LLP has appointed Richard Booth as a fund manager for its expanding capital solutions team, which was established earlier this year. Booth will work with Paul Taylor, head of Downing’s capital solutions.

Downing’s capital solutions team is in the process of launching a series of new investment activities and funds.

As part of the initiative, the capital solutions team will deploy funds from institutional investors in sectors such as healthcare and European real estate.

With more than 20 years of investment experience, Booth’s expertise will add further strategic and transactional excellence to the team, says Downing.

Before Downing, Booth was a fund manager and director at M&G, focusing on fixed-income opportunities.

During a 10-year tenure with the company, Booth helped to build a real estate opportunity platform in Dublin, which attracted over €1 billion of institutional capital. Prior to M&G, Booth spent 10 years at KPMG.

Commenting on his appointment, Booth says: “I’m looking forward to supporting the team’s expansion and future success and am excited to be joining a firm that has such a strong commitment to sustainable investing.”

Taylor adds: “Richard’s appointment is another important step forward in the establishment of our new capital solutions strategy. His expertise in strategy and investment will further strengthen our capabilities to identify and manage attractive investment opportunities on behalf of institutional investors.”
