BNY Mellon has appointed Emily Portney as CEO of asset servicing, effective 1 February 2023.
Based in New York, she will report to Roman Regelman, CEO of securities services and digital.
Heading BNY Mellon’s largest division, Portney will be focused on increasing client franchise growth and optimising profitability. She will maintain her current position as a member of the executive committee.
Alongside this, Portney will be leading the bank’s client commercialisation initiative. Reporting to Robin Vince, CEO, she is tasked with improving commercial margin outcomes across the company.
Portney has almost three decades of experience in the financial services industry and is currently chief financial officer for BNY Mellon, a role she has held since 2020. Prior to this, she was global head of client coverage and head of the Americas for the bank’s asset servicing division.
Before joining BNY Mellon, Portney served in a number of senior roles at Barclays International and J.P. Morgan.
