BNP Paribas has appointed Emmanuelle Bury as UK country head, head of the company’s London branch and a member of the CIB board effective 1 March 2023, subject to regulatory approval.
Bury replaces Anne-Marie Verstraeten, who is becoming vice chairwoman of BNP Paribas UK, and will report to Alain Papiasse, chairman of BNP Paribas CIB and BNP Paribas UK.
Bury has almost 30 years of experience in the financial services industry, the majority of which has been spent with BNP. She has held a number of roles in the company, including head of CIB integration and, most recently, chief compliance officer at the New York office.
Commenting on Bury’s appointment, Papiasse says: “Over the past six years, Anne Marie and her teams have made significant inroads in the UK market across our UK businesses and succeeded in elevating the brand of BNP Paribas.
“I am very glad to have her with us as vice chairwoman of BNP Paribas UK to support our ongoing development in the UK. In her new role, Emmanuelle will build on our success and further develop the Group in the country at the service of our clients.”
Yann Géradin, group chief operating officer and head of BNP Paribas CIB, adds: “I am very pleased to welcome Emmanuelle Bury as our new UK country head. Thanks to her broad experience across the BNP Paribas Group, in various businesses, functions and geographies, I am confident that Emmanuelle has all what it takes to further build out our UK activities and reinforce our set-up.”
