The International Securities Services Association (ISSA) has appointed Roland Chai as a member of its Board.
Chai is currently executive vice president at Nasdaq and a member of its Clearing Board. He leads the company’s marketplace technology division, which provides purpose-built infrastructure solutions.
Chai has more than 25 years experience in the industry, and has served in a number of senior roles including head of post-trade and head of clearing risk solutions at the Hong Kong Exchange, head of equities at LCH and product development manager at the Australian Securities Exchange.
Commenting on his appointment, Chai says: “I am excited to represent Nasdaq as we work together with the ISSA Board and management team to modernise markets, strengthen transparency, further market integrity and shape the future of securities services.
“I worked closely with ISSA whilst at Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing and saw their direct impact in advancing our industry. Nasdaq is aligned around many of the key focus areas being prioritised by ISSA.”
Phil Brown, ISSA chairman, adds: “ISSA is delighted to welcome Roland to the board. Roland has a very strong risk background and exposure to a number of different markets through both his own personal experience and Nasdaq’s presence as an infrastructure provider to a number of markets. He will be an asset to the board.”
