Laser Digital Middle East, Nomura’s digital asset subsidiary, has been granted operating licence approval from the Dubai Virtual Asset Regulatory Authority (VARA).
The firm is now able to provide virtual asset broker-dealer services and virtual asset management and investment services from its Dubai office. The company also has offices in London, and is headquartered in Switzerland.
Following the licence approval, Laser Digital plans to launch its trading and asset management businesses imminently. These will provide over-the-counter trading services to institutional investors, alongside a range of digital asset investment products and solutions.
Laser Digital provides scalable trading, asset management and ventures opportunities to clients. Launched in the autumn of 2022, the firm seeks to improve confidence in the institutional market.
Jez Mohideen, co-founder and CEO of Laser Digital, says: “We are grateful to VARA for approving our operating licence. VARA’s thorough and consultative process provides institutional investors with the assurance they require to engage in this asset class. With the licence now in place, we are looking forward to Laser’s growth over the coming years."
