Citi and Google Cloud have partnered to support Citi’s digital strategy through cloud technology, as well as modernising the company’s technological infrastructure.
The collaboration will see Citi migrating a number of workloads and applications to Google Cloud’s infrastructure. This will enable Citi to offer enhanced digital products to its users and run high performance computing.
In the agreement, Citi will also be able to use Google Cloud’s Vertex AI platform to rollout generative AI capabilities across the company, with a specialised focus on facilitating the customer service teams.
Tim Ryan, head of technology and business enablement for Citi, comments: “Leveraging Google Cloud opens up a whole new frontier for us in how we can run applications with faster and more comprehensive outputs, and provide our colleagues with the tools they need to deliver for our clients."
"By combining Citi's deep banking and customer experience expertise with Google Cloud's leading cloud and AI capabilities, we can deliver significant benefits to Citi's clients and employees," adds Thomas Kurian, Google Cloud CEO.
Reacting to the news, Vikas Srivastava, CRO at Integral, concludes: “What cloud allows the market to do is to significantly reduce cost, enabling the level of innovation to take off. It’s clear now that the future for financial markets is firmly in the cloud.”
