Georgina Marshall of Institutional Shareholder Services (ISS) has moved to a new position of head of global research, replacing Martha Carter, who is taking on a new role leading global education initiatives at ISS.

Effective 1 September, Marshall will lead the global research teams, providing research, information and vote recommendations for institutional investors.

She will also be head of the global policy board, which is responsible for developing global benchmark proxy voting policies, and a member of ISS’s new Governance 365 initiative – a programme to provide ISS clients with additional research and data solutions.

Marshall will report to Gary Retelny, president and CEO of ISS, and will divide her time between the ISS offices in London and Rockville, Maryland. She is expected to relocate to the US permanently in 2016.

Currently, Marshall is deputy director of global research and head of ISS research for Europe, the Middle East and Africa; she has been with the firm since 2012. Before this, she was regional head of corporate governance at Aviva Investors.

Marshall said: “I look forward to leading the global ISS research teams in providing high quality research, reporting, and thought-leadership to assist our clients in making informed voting and investment decisions.”

She added: “Governance is increasingly becoming a year-round focus for investors globally, and ISS research and data is constantly evolving to meet our clients’ needs. Our goal is to develop new and highly flexible ways in which to deliver comprehensive and useful data and analytics throughout the year to assist our clients with their core stewardship, investing and voting activities.”
