BTIG, a financial services provider specialising in institutional trading, investment banking, research and brokerage, has hired Daniel Howell as a director.

Howell will focus on business development in the transaction management team, covering public and private pensions, corporations, fund managers and sovereign wealth funds.

He has previously held similar roles at BNY Mellon Asset Servicing and Citigroup Global Capital Markets.

At BTIG, Howell will report to Thomas Smykowski, managing director and head of global portfolio and exchange-traded funds trading.

Smykowski said: "With his industry experience, Daniel brings tremendous value to the firm while complementing the talent of our existing transition management team."

He added: "BTIG's sophisticated transition management solution is an increasingly compelling offering for plan sponsors and other asset owners when they realign their portfolios and face the risks of often volatile and complex markets."

COO of BTIG Anton LeRoy, said: "[Howell’s] deep understanding of the industry landscape, combined with his considerable experience in this niche product will be valuable as we continue to grow and develop our offering for clients."
