Northern Trust has completed its acquisition of Aviate Global LLP, an institutional equity brokerage firm offering market research and execution services.
Aviate will be integrated into the Northern Trust brokerage business, Northern Trust Securities.
The acquisition is intended to improve Northern Trust’s ability to deliver trading solutions that meet investor servicing and transition management needs around the world – Aviate Global has offices in London, New York, Hong Kong and Sydney.
Mike Vardas, global head of capital markets at Northern Trust, said: “We are very pleased to announce the completion of our acquisition of Aviate.”
He added: “We’re looking forward to supporting greater reach of AviateLive, now powered by Northern Trust Securities, a research product designed to drive actionable investment ideas for current and future clients.”
Aviate co-founders Guy Gibson and Gary Paulin will join the Northern Trust Securities global brokerage business within corporate and institutional services, along with 30 additional staff members.
Gibson said: “Like Northern Trust, Aviate is committed to delivering exceptional client service and we’ll continue to work in close partnership with our clients to provide our unique research and high-quality execution capabilities as part of Northern Trust.”
Paulin added: “We are delighted to be joining Northern Trust and look forward to leveraging their strong global brand.”
