Vanguard has appointed Paul Young as European senior exchange-traded funds (ETFs) capital markets specialist.

Reporting to Thomas Bartolacci, head of ETF capital markets, Europe, Young will be responsible for supporting the liquidity of Vanguard’s products and helping clients achieve their investment goals.

Young joins from State Street Global Advisors, where he was most recently head of ETF capital markets, for Europe, Middle East and Africa. He joined SSGA in 2007 as a senior equities trader.

Prior to this, Young held roles at St James’s Place wealth management and Morgan Stanley investment management.

Young is the latest addition following a series of European ETF hires at Vanguard since the beginning of the year, including the hire of Gregoire Blanc as senior ETF Capital Markets specialist and the appointment of Simone Rosti as head of Italy in June.

Vanguard has also recently hired Markus Weis as deputy head of Germany and Austria in February and also hired Liz Wright, Rahul Thrakar and Christophe Collet as senior ETF specialists.

Thomas Merz, head of distribution for Europe, ex-UK, commented: “It is no secret that ETFs have become increasingly popular for their benefits; ultimately leading to better investment outcomes for investors.”

He added: “Young’s experience and knowledge will not only help our team ensure clients get the best possible trading experience, but also continue to achieve the lowest possible trading costs when buying and selling ETFs.”
