BNY Mellon has appointed Emily Portney as head of asset servicing for the Americas, effective 1 October.
Based in New York, Portney will report directly to asset servicing CEO, Hani Kablaw.
In this role, Portney will lead the company's asset servicing business in the US and Latin America, and will oversee BNY Mellon's interest in the CIBC Mellon asset servicing joint venture in Canada.
Portney succeeds Dan Smith, who was appointed to a new role as head of asset servicing business resiliency.
Prior to BNY Mellon, Portney was most recently CFO for Barclays International, where she led a global finance organisation. Before that, Portney served at Visa where she was the CFO of North America.
Prior to Visa, Emily spent 22 years at JP Morgan where she was global head of clearing and collateral management, a brokerage unit that provided agency execution, clearing, and collateral management services across derivatives and securities markets worldwide.
