The governing council of European Central Bank (ECB) have nominated Andrea Enria as chair of the supervisory board.
Enria was selected from a shortlist of candidates compiled by the governing council on 26 September this year.
He currently serves as the chairperson of the European Banking Authority, and he will be invited by the Economic and Monetary Affairs (ECON) committee to a public hearing.
If approved by the parliament and confirmed by the council of the EU, Enria will succeed Danièle Nouy as chair of the supervisory board on 1 January next year.
The ECB has informed the chair of the European parliament’s committee on ECON, Robert Gualtieri, about its decision.
This is in line with the interinstitutional agreement between the ECB and the European Parliament.
Additionally, the ECB has informed the president of the economic and financial affairs council, Hartwig Löger.
