BNP Paribas Securities Services has appointed Thorsten Gommel as head of Germany and Austria, effective April 2019.

In his new role, Gommel will be responsible for leading the development of BNP Paribas securities services franchise in Germany and Austria and he will head the team located in Frankfurt.

Based in Frankfurt, Gommel will report to Alessandro Gioffreda, head of Continental Europe for BNP Paribas Securities Services, and locally to Lutz Diederichs, chairman of the BNP Paribas group management board Germany.

Gommel joins BNP Paribas from PwC, where he has been a partner since 2010.
Across Europe, Middle East and Africa, Gommel led the professional services firm’s asset and wealth management sector in Germany and its consulting business in asset and wealth management.

Patrick Colle, general manager of BNP Paribas Securities Services, said: “I am delighted to welcome Thorsten Gommel to BNP Paribas. His in-depth knowledge of the capital markets and asset management in particular positions us well for further expansion in Germany and Austria, where we have ambitious growth plans.”
