Tradewind, a financial technology firm focused on blockchain solutions, has appointed Leon Shklar as CTO.
Based in New York City, Shklar will be responsible for the firm’s technology architecture, infrastructure, business applications and innovation.
Shklar was most recently managing director of technology at BNY Mellon where he led the development of a platform that facilitated the integration of business applications across the bank.
He was also a board member of BNY Mellon Tel Aviv and spearheaded the acquisition of a technology company in Israel.
Prior to BNY Mellon, Shklar worked for Bridgewater Associates and held technical leadership roles at the New York Times, Thomson Reuters, and Wall Street Journal, where he was responsible for developing and scaling software.
Commenting on his new role, Shklar, said: “Blockchain and distributed ledger technology bring transparency, trust and immutability to multiple asset classes–and that’s a game-changer.”
He added: “I’m pleased to join Tradewind’s talented team. Together, we are strengthening the ecosystem for precious metals and other alternative assets—enabling clearer title of ownership, smooth deployment as collateral, and more secure custody.”
Michael Albanese, CEO of Tradewind, commented: “We are excited to welcome Leon to our executive team to accelerate our execution. He has a proven track record of delivering large-scale internet applications and has built and led global software development teams.”
