CLS has appointed Deborah Hrvatin as chief risk officer and as a member of the executive management committee to lead its risk function globally.

Hrvatin joins CLS from Citigroup, where she was global head of operational risk management for the institutional clients’ group.

She will be responsible for CLS’s risk management framework, risk identification, challenge and mitigation.

Prior to joining Citigroup in 2017, Hrvatin spent 22 years with Deutsche Bank, where she held several leadership roles including head of operational risk for the Americas region.

Hrvatin started her career in financial services as a commissioned bank examiner with the Federal Reserve Bank of New York.

Gilbert Lichter, interim CEO of CLS, said: “Deborah Hrvatin is a strong addition to our team. In her new role, she will be able to draw on her extensive experience in risk management from some of the world’s largest sell-side institutions to further the CLS risk agenda.”

Commenting on her new role, Hrvatin said: “CLS plays a crucial risk-mitigation role in the foreign exchange industry, and I am looking forward to further embedding a culture of risk identification, challenge and mitigation at one of the world’s leading global infrastructures.”
