The New York Stock Exchange is back up and running after a technical issue caused all trading on NYSE and NYSE MKT to be suspended.
NYSE stopped trading in order to prevent any more problems from arising, and the exchange was down for around three-and-a-half hours.
The exchange was quick to point out that the issue was not a cyber-attack, and the White House press secretary Josh Earnest said in a press briefing: “There is no indication that malicious actors are involved in these technology issues.”
Tom Farley, president of NYSE, told CNBC that the issue was caused by a configuration problem, and confirmed that an investigation will be launched.
