Apex Group has been selected by investment company BGF to provide ESG ratings and advisory services to more than 230 high-growth companies in the capital investor’s portfolio.
Apex’s ESG services are currently used by more than 350 general partners in over 45 countries to report on investments according to ESG standards and regulations.
As the most active growth capital investor in the UK and Ireland, BGF’s investment approach already integrates ESG principles to promote sustainable practices within the company’s portfolio.
Apex’s ESG Health Check solution is designed for minority equity, venture capital and credit investors that do not have a controlling stake in their private company investments but require a high quality and efficient mechanism to assess their portfolio.
The solution will strengthen BGF’s portfolio on ESG matters with measurable and comparable data, as well as a quantitative overview of ESG performance at company and portfolio levels.
The Health Check solution also enables access to Apex’s ESG portfolio for efficient data upload and independent verification.
Commenting on the partnership, William Chignell, chief commercial officer, ESG at Apex Group, explains: “As a long-term partner, BGF is uniquely placed to help drive sustainable growth for its portfolio and to invest crucial capital into businesses which benefit people and the planet.
“From diversity to energy transition, accurately capturing ESG data is essential to understanding which companies can improve their impact on society, the environment and business communities, now and in the future.”
Alistair Brew, head of investment operations at BGF, adds: “We need a scalable ESG ratings and advisory solution which can meet the needs of our growing portfolio and help investees to build strong, sustainable businesses. Apex are the clear market leaders, delivering meaningful, accurate, efficient analysis and reporting at scale.”
