Apex Group (Apex) has launched an ESG data-as-a-service (DaaS) platform, offering a database and benchmarking index to private markets, advisory services with granular sector benchmarking, market insights and research updates.
The new service comes in response to a growing focus on ESG data and collection, and market demand for a way to compare peer performance.
Information in the database comes from more than 400 general partners and 1500 portfolio companies, gathered over the past four years and spanning over 45 countries. The data, in an anonymised form, will cover a range of ESG-related points including carbon footprints, management of climate-related risks and revenue generation from green products.
Joshua Brunert, global head of product development for ESG at Apex, says: “When it comes to ESG, it is no longer acceptable for private markets investors to ‘mark their own homework’ in-house. Independent data assessment, verification and benchmarking is essential to ensure the integrity of ESG reporting and to drive positive change.
“Verified and accurate data underpins meaningful comparisons against international standards and to monitor change over time. With Apex’s ESG DaaS solutions, private markets investors can now accurately compare ESG performance against their peers and sector.”
