The Taskforce on Nature-related Financial Disclosures (TNFD) has released a list of 320 early adopters of its recommendations.

The 320 organisations, spread across 46 countries, have shared their intentions to make disclosures aligned with the TNFD recommendations before 2025. More than half — 186 — plan to include these in their financial reporting by the 2024 financial year or earlier.

This initial cohort includes publicly listed companies representing US$4 trillion in market capitalisation.

Helena Pavese is head of environment for pulp producer Suzano, one of the companies on the list. Commenting on the announcement, she says: “We know that accurate information is essential to be able to take effective action.

“Being transparent with this information will enable our investors, regulators, customers and other stakeholders to see the progress we are making and hold us to account for our impacts and commitments.

“We welcome this shift to greater reporting, because the world urgently needs to address the nature crisis, and better disclosures are an essential first step to holding the private sector to account.”
