The London Pensions Fund Authority (LPFA) is to provide the Bedfordshire Fire and Rescue Service with full pension administration and payroll services to approximately 1,000 serving and retired fire fighters and their families for the next four years.
Bedfordshire Fire & Rescue Service awarded the contract to the LPFA due to its experience administering the pensions of fire fighters for nearly 15 years.
“As a public sector organisation, the LPFA appreciates the unique challenges faced by fire services and has designed its core service offering to support this, understanding that potential for innovation is as important as ever in achieving ongoing efficiencies whilst maintaining service quality,” said a statement from the firm.
The arrangement will provide Bedfordshire Fire & rescue Service with full pension administration and payroll services of both new and old firefighter pension schemes; secure employer and member portals; workflow management; and communications services.
Susan Martin, chief executive at LPFA, said: “Having looked after the pensions of over 15,000 fire fighters for almost a decade and a half, the LPFA is uniquely positioned to manage the Fire Brigade and other public pension schemes."
"Through the delivery of unique new services alongside established expert administrative functions, we will be able to effectively support Bedfordshire Fire and Rescue Service as they continue to provide society with an essential, lifesaving service.”
