HDI Global has received a regulatory licence from the Dubai Financial Services Authority (DFSA).
The licence will allow the commercial and specialty lines insurer to open an office in Dubai. This office will be led by its new managing director, Willem van Wyk, and aims to bring the firm closer to its clients in the region.
Van Wyk has over 30 years of experience in the industry and has most recently been serving as the firm’s regional market manager for ASEAN and Australasia.
He comments: “The Middle East continues to become a more important player in the global economy. The DIFC is a dynamic marketplace that provides growth opportunities for HDI now and in the future. HDI is excited to bring A-rated capacity and a strong underwriting team to support brokers and clients in the DIFC."
