Ripple has partnered with Unicâmbio, a Portuguese currency exchange provider, to support instant cross-border payments between Portugal and Brazil.

The partnership will use Ripple Payments to strengthen the Portugal-Brazil payments corridor, and marks the expansion of Ripple's European footprint. Unicâmbio's customers will now be able to move funds and settle payments quickly and efficiently, the companies say.

The partnership also builds on Ripple's existing presence in Brazil, where it has a well-established partnership with financial institutions in the region, including Mercado Bitcoin and Travelex Bank.

Cassie Craddock, managing director of UK and Europe at Ripple, comments: "By connecting our payment networks in Portugal and Brazil we are facilitating faster, more cost-effective cross-border payments, while strengthening the economic bridge between these two major markets."

Adriana Jerónimo, executive board member at Unicâmbio, adds: "By leveraging blockchain technology we're transforming money movement between the two nations."
