LCH.Clearnet selected the London Stock Exchange's majority bid over Markit, according to the Financial Times.
The deal still needs to be approved by LCH.Clearnet's board and is valued at some €1bn, the FT added.
The takeover comes at a time of increasing competition across Europe in the post-trade services business amid a wave of exchange consolidations and regulatory uncertainty.
