BNP Paribas Securities Services has appointed Takeshi Kozu as head of securities services in Japan, effective immediately.

Kozu replaces Laurent Guittonneau who has relocated back to Europe with BNP Paribas.

Based in Tokyo, Kozu will continue to build and accelerate the growth of BNP Paribas Securities Services in Japan, leveraging the bank’s institutional banking platform.

Kozu will report to Philippe Benoit, head of Securities Services Asia Pacific, and Nicolas Pillet, general manager of BNP Paribas, Tokyo Branch.

With more than 20 years’ experience in securities services, Kozu joins BNP Paribas from Mizuho Financial Group where he was head of custody client services at trust and custody services bank, a specialised custody bank within the Mizuho Group.

Commenting on Kozu’s role, Benoit said: “We’re delighted to welcome Takeshi Kozu to BNP Paribas. His proven track record and deep local knowledge, combined with his securities services expertise, will ensure we continue to grow our business in this important market.”

He added: “We have built a solid franchise in Japan, offering Japanese financial institutions a large spectrum of custody-related services, combined with high touch local client service.”
