The International Securities Services Association (ISSA) has elected Tata Consulting Services (TCS) Financial Solutions’ co-head Vivekanand Ramgopal to its board of directors.

At TCS, R Vivekanand is responsible for the realisation of strategic growth initiatives encompassing cloud, digital and blockchain technologies. He has worked at the firm since 1993 in various roles.

TCS has been a member of ISSA’s working groups on corporate actions and distributed ledger technology.

ISSA has grown to have more than 110 member institutions, such as custodian banks, clearing organisations, central depositories, stock exchanges, brokers and asset managers.

Commenting on his appointment, R Vivekanand said: "Advances in distributed ledger technology (DLT), AI and machine learning offer the global securities service provider community an opportunity to reimagine the clearing and settlement transaction chain, making them frictionless across the extended ecosystem.”

“It is an honour to represent TCS on the board of ISSA, and shape the organisation’s agenda, especially on the role of cutting-edge technologies in the transformation of this industry and its future growth.”

Lee Waite, chairman of ISSA, added: "We are pleased to welcome R Vivekanand to our board of directors. His experience and global outlook, coupled with deep technology expertise, especially in DLT, and extensive dealings with our community, will provide a strong perspective in helping further ISSA’s mission.”

In February, Steven Hondelink joined the ISSA board representing Deutsche Bank. Hondelink replaced James Cox, who had been on the board since September 2018.
