Ocorian has appointed Hugo Smyth as head of business development, UK and Europe, capital markets.

Based in Ocorian’s London office, Smyth reports to Simon Behan, chief commercial officer at Ocorian.

Smyth joins Ocorian from Deutsche Bank where he spent over five years as director, business development and sales, trust and agency services.

Prior to this, he was with BNY Mellon for over eight years, specialising in high yield and debt capital market transactions.

Throughout this time, Smyth has worked in business development roles covering Europe, Middle East, and Africa. Before the corporate trust roles, he spent seven years at Bloomberg.

Behan comments: “We are delighted to welcome Hugo Smyth to our team. Smyth has worked in the capital markets space for the last 15 years and his commercial experience, expertise and client-focus will be instrumental in driving new business development for Ocorian in our expanding capital markets service line.”

Mike Hughes, global head of service lines and business development, Ocorian, explains: “His appointment underscores our commitment to accelerating growth, attracting market-leading experts, and growing new client opportunities in the capital markets space.”

Smyth says: ‘Ocorian is a dynamic, fast-growing business with an entrepreneurial spirit and vastly experienced leadership team, so this is a tremendous time to join.”

“I am excited to be working with the global team to realise Ocorian’s growth ambitions and become a world leader in capital markets,” he adds.
