HornbyChapman, the specialist financial services recruitment firm, has hired John Barnes as chief representative Asia (CRA), effective from 11 October.

Based in Singapore, Barnes will have responsibility for spearheading HornbyChapman’s expansion plans in Asia. He replaces former CRA Roger Harrold who will move to an advisory position.

Barnes is originally from Liverpool but has called Singapore home for over 30 years, and has been a Singapore citizen since 2005. Prior to Hornby Chapman, he was the global head of HR at Deutsche Bank’s Global Transaction Banking division.

Paul Chapman, managing director and co-founder of parent company HornbyChapman, says: “I’m delighted that John Barnes is bringing his tremendous experience, global perspective and industry knowledge to us."

Chapman continues:"He knows the region extremely well and will take us to the next level with respect to our Asian expansion plans, which he will have the responsibility for spearheading.”

“Roger Harrold has done a superlative job for us over the past five years and I’m equally delighted that he will be staying to give us the benefit of his wise counsel on an ongoing basis.”

Barnes comments: “The HornbyChapman name and team, with their reputation for market knowledge and professionalism and solid track record of execution, is very attractive and I’m excited to be joining at such an important time for their growth.”

Founded in 2007, HornbyChapman operates in the securities services space and has offices in London, Edinburgh, Hong Kong and Singapore, and joint ventures in Toronto, New York, Luxembourg, Mumbai and Johannesburg.

The firm focuses on senior level appointments with major banking, third party admin, asset management, fintech and financial infrastructure groups on a global basis.
