Apex Group appoints new senior director of business development for Ireland

Apex Group has appointed Barry O’Brien as senior director of business development. O’Brien will be responsible for driving the firm’s continued growth in Ireland.

Based in Apex’s Dublin office, O’Brien will report to John Bohan, co-founder and country head of business development (Ireland).

O’Brien brings more than 27 years of experience working in fund solutions business development.

He joins Apex from U.S. Bank global fund services where he was most recently director of business development.

Prior to his role at U.S. Bank, O’Brien was head of fund client relations – Europe for Quintillion and held commercial fund services roles at international organisations including Bank of America Merrill Lynch, Fortis Prime Fund Solutions, and MeesPierson.

Apex opened its first office in Ireland in 2007 and now has four office locations across the country, employing over 350 people.

Commenting on O’Brien’s appointment Bohan says: “Further to what was a record year of growth for the Apex Group, we are delighted to welcome Barry O’Brien to our Ireland Business development team. Domiciled funds in Ireland exceeded over €3.5trillion last year and we look forward to capitalising on the industry success as we roll out our single source solution across fund administration and depositary and custody services.”
