BNP Paribas Securities Services (BNP) has appointed Daniel Cheever as head of securities services for Australia and New Zealand.

Based in Sydney, Cheever will report to Franck Dubois, head of securities for APAC, and Karine Devallée, CEO of BNP Australia and New Zealand.

In the role, Cheever will be responsible for continuing BNP’s expansion in the Australia and New Zealand region. Additionally, he will be tasked with helping current clients adapt to technological and regulatory changes.

Cheever joins BNP from State Street, where he served for more than 23 years, most recently as head of global services for Australia. Before this, he was director of the Australian Custodial Services Association.

Commenting on the appointment, Dubois says: “I am delighted to announce Daniel’s appointment to lead us into our next phase of growth. Australia and New Zealand are very strong and important markets for BNP Paribas. This is an exciting period as we are at the forefront of several blockchain and data custodian innovations being led from Australia.”
