Standard Chartered has made two senior appointments in its transaction banking business, with Kashinath Hariharan (pictured) and Yigen Pei being named heads of transaction banking and cash management.

Hariharan will lead the India and South Asia division, while Pei will oversee operations in China.

Hariharan has more than 25 years of experience in the industry, and previously served as managing director at Standard Chartered. Before this he spent more than 16 years with ICICI Bank, most recently as head of payments and cash management for transaction banking.

Pei also has more than two decades of experience in the industry, and joins Standard Chartered from Shanghai Services Federation, where he was vice chair. The majority of his career has been spent at Citibank, where he held a number of senior roles including managing director and country head of treasury and trade solutions.

Commenting on the appointments, Ricky Kaura, head of transaction banking for Asia, Africa and the Middle East at Standard Chartered, says: “[These are] two of the largest and most important markets across our footprint.

“[Hariharan and Pei’s] wealth and depth of experience in the banking industry and broad understanding of the transaction banking landscape will help deliver on our aspirations, further cementing our position in these markets and driving our next phase of growth.”
