BNY Mellon has appointed Nelius De Groot as head of market and execution services for APAC, effective immediately.

In the Singapore-based role, De Groot will lead the growth strategy and direction of the market and execution services business in the region.

De Groot has more than two decades of industry experience, and joins BNY Mellon from Standard Chartered bank. He spent almost four years with the company as chief operation officer for transaction banking, later taking on responsibility for financial crime surveillance operations and operations services.

Earlier in his career, De Groot held CEO and chief operating officer roles at software development firm Mporium. Before this, he spent 18 years with Deutsche Bank in a number of roles, most latterly co-head of global technology and operations, corporate banking and securities.

Fangfang Chen, head of APAC and APAC global client management at BNY Mellon, says: “We look to [De Groot’s] experience and expertise to help drive the next phase of innovation and growth for our markets and execution services business in the region.”

Adam Vos, global head of markets and execution services at BNY Mellon, comments: “[De Groot’s] impressive track record of building and expanding businesses, along with his focus on product and technology innovation and execution, will be instrumental as we continue to deliver market-leading solutions to clients across the region.”
