BNY Mellon has named Edward Watson as executive vice president and chief operations officer. In this newly-created position, he will report to Kurt Woetzel, BNY Mellon's head of global operations and technology and chief administrative officer.

Watson was most recently executive vice president for operations, technology and general services for Fannie Mae.

"Ed's new role is key to driving operational excellence across our global organization," Woetzel said. "In addition to leading the centralization of certain operations, Ed will oversee operational activities in our global delivery centers and have responsibility for operations functions that today reside in our businesses."
