Consulting firm KB Associates has appointed Maurice Murphy as a senior consultant for risk management services.

Murphy will provide technical risk management support and consulting advice to KB Associates’ roster of traditional and alternative asset manager clients.

He will also be responsible for leading the development of the firm’s risk management solutions for all clients operating under the AIFMD regime.

Prior to joining KB Associates, Murphy was head of the fund linked products desk at Credit Suisse, Dublin. He also held roles at ABN Amro Bank, Morgan Stanley and UBS.

Mike Kirby, managing principal of KB Associates, said: “We are delighted that Murphy has joined KB Associates. He brings with him many years of practical investment risk management experience which will complement KB Associates’ existing fund governance, compliance and operational oversight capabilities.”

“Murphy will provide our clients with detailed advice regarding the design and implementation of robust risk management frameworks as required under AIFMD. This is an area of critical importance to both EU investment managers and indeed non-EU managers marketing alternative investment funds in Europe.”

Commenting on his new role, Murphy said: “AIFMD significantly increases the focus on risk management. Both asset managers and the offshore funds they manage require increasingly substantive risk management processes.”

“I very much look forward to working with the team here at KB Associates in developing a suite of risk management solutions which will meet the needs of our clients.”
