Kher Sheng Lee has joined the Alternative Investment Management Association (AIMA) as global deputy head of government affairs and head of Asia Pacific (APAC) government affairs.
He joins from his position as General Counsel at Azentus Capital. Previously, he founded and chaired The Asian Hedge Fund Legal and Regulatory Group, a peer-to-peer buy-side networking group.
Lee will join AIMA’s Singapore office, working alongside Heide Blunt, head of APAC, and Ji?í Król, deputy CEO and global head of government affairs.
The move is a progression of Lee’s work with AIMA; he was the first chair of the association’s Sound Practices Committee, a member of the Asset Management Standing Committee, and co-chair of the Hong Kong Regulatory Committee.
Jack Inglis, CEO of AIMA, said: “I am delighted that [Lee] has agreed to join us. It is a significant boost to our activities in APAC, where we continue to grow, and he is well known and respected by many of our members out in the region.”
Lee added: “I am very proud to be joining AIMA, which is undoubtedly one of the most renowned asset management government affairs associations globally. I look forward to playing a central role in AIMA’s continued growth internationally.”
