Maitland bolsters fund services team with senior hire

Maitland, the fund administration firm, has appointed JP Khaitan as head of technology – fund services.

Based in Cape Town, South Africa, Khaitan will report to Jon Hugill, managing director of Maitland global fund services.

In the newly created role, Khaitan will work with Maitland’s management team to define fund services’ information technology and information system strategy, overseeing its deployment and maintenance.

He will also ensure Maitland realises maximum value from its technology investments, both to grow the business and further enhance client service.

Khaitan has more than two decades’ experience working with multinationals across the wealth management, life insurance, fund, and banking sectors.

Commenting on his new role, Khaitan says: “With Maitland’s wealth of experience in local and offshore markets, significant market share within South Africa, and global client offering, I’m excited about the opportunities for the fund services business.”

Hugill adds: “A growing governance and regulatory burden is putting pressure on the funds sector, pushing up the cost of managing assets for clients. Technological advancements are also triggering demand for innovation, digitalisation, and improved efficiency within the fund services industry.
