Standard Chartered appoints Subberwal to global head of digital business

Standard Chartered has promotedSamir Subberwal to global head of digital business.

In addition to running the consumer, private and business banking business in Asia, Subberwal will be responsible for leading and driving the bank’s digital business strategy, including Standard Chartered’s digital banks, sales and ventures.

Based in Hong Kong, Subberwal will accelerate the bank’s digital agenda globally, while reporting to consumer, private and business banking chief executive Judy Hsu.

Subberwal brings decades of experience to his new position, having held a 28-year term with the bank.

Joining Standard Chartered in 1994, Subberwal has since held the roles of managing director and head of retail banking for Greater China and North Asia. He has also served as managing director and head of consumer, private and business banking, Asia.
