C5 Capital, a firm which focuses on cyber security, cloud computing and artificial intelligence, has invested $35 million in IronNet Cybersecurity, a provider of cybersecurity solutions.
The new funds will be used to support IronNet’s growth and to continue the development and adoption of its cybersecurity solutions.
IronNet will utilise its technologies, IronDefense and IronDome, in the US and internationally.
IronNet provides cyber defense using behavioral modeling and big-data analytics, as well as packet level threat hunting through a user interface to alert organisations when their environment is at risk.
According to IronNet, this enables visibility of industry-wide malicious activity, allowing member companies to identify stealthy activity and industry targeted campaigns that are difficult to identify by any single firm working in isolation.
Led by C5 Capital, IronNet’s fund raise also saw Silicon Valley venture capital firms ForgePoint Capital (formerly known as Trident Capital Cybersecurity) and Kleiner Perkins invest in the business.
Post the transaction Andre Pienaar, managing partner and founder of C5 will join the board of IronNet, with C5 assisting the firm’s expansion into Europe and the Middle East.
